Avliotes is a mountainous settlement lying at the northwest side of the island, 40km from Corfu Town. It is a green village set against a background of lush green hills. The village displays lovely houses with traditional architecture yet the most impressive spot is the church of Virgin Mary that dates back to 18th century, standing on a high platform at the highest point of the village.
There is an old-fashioned kafenion at the centre of the village and many traditional shops selling handmade things and local products. There is a nice tavern serving tasty food located halfway along the main street. Set in a wonderful setting just above Agios Stefanos, Avliotes is close to a long sandy beach with crystal and shallow water.
